The story of the kamado grill begins over 3,000 years ago in ancient China, where clay cooking vessels were prized for their incredible ability to retain heat and lock in moisture. These clay pots laid the groundwork for a culinary legacy that has spanned centuries, evolving from simple, practical cookware into the beloved kamado grill we know today.

Our story begins in a small clay town in China called Yixing, known for its artisan potters and collectible teapots. The family’s stewardship has always brought meticulous attention to detail, weaving its way from concept and design through manufacturing and into the customer’s home. Those same threads of craftsmanship continue to shape the vision and standards of VESSILS today.

Born and raised in Yixing, Dianna grew up surrounded by the traditions of clay and fire. After moving to the United States, she saw an opportunity to bridge her hometown’s heritage with modern needs.

When the family business needed a new direction, she stepped in to lead. She founded VESSILS in response to what was missing in the industry: grills with thoughtful design and refined details, practices that respect the planet, and a community that welcomes a broader range of cooks.

The result: grills that are beautiful, packaging engineered entirely from recyclable paper, and a variety of grills that make the joy of fire cooking accessible to every cook.
